World Triathlon corruption: "this is a matter of significant concern"

In a letter, Triathlon Denmark refutes the false propaganda circular by World Triathlon and demands facts and corrections regarding the clearly documented case of corruption involving Liber García (Uruguay), member of the board and of the actual, secret ruling body known as ‘the group’.

"Has the Executive Board fully considered the potential reputational damage to World Triathlon in continuing to retain a Board member who has been convicted of corruption? What message does this send about the values and judgment of the rest of the Executive Board?"

The letter from Triathlon Denmark, which I am publishing today, is a rare case of minimal civil courage in an Olympic international federation (IF). In World Triathlon, the leadership operates with lies and deceit, and whistleblowers and those who could become whistleblowers are currently being pressured.

In such a toxic environment, even a letter that politely asks questions without even naming corrupt officials is something special. It is a small act of resistance, a delicate seedling that must be nurtured and cared for.

Familarise yourself with the basics in these and other articles, including the latest decision by a CAS chamber that found corruption and made interesting definitions of corruption and corrupt behavior:

CAS confirms corruption in World Triathlon elections
EXCLUSIVE: The head of the American confederation, Liber García (Uruguay), rigged elections with other continental princes and the then secretary general Antonio Arimany. The new triathlon boss Arimany is also ICAS vice president. An opposition is calling for an investigation and new elections.

It is a despicable system that goes far beyond rigged elections – fake elections in which a conspiratorial group determined the results in advance and distributed them in advance as instructions to the obedient electorate.
